Sorry I Vanished: An ode to Mom Life, Social Media Chaos and My Etsy Shop

If my blog had a front porch, there would be a stack of unopened mail, one lonely flip-flop, and me peeking through the blinds whispering, “I swear I was coming back.”

So... hi. Hello. Remember me?

I did not plan to disappear from this little corner of the internet. I did not dramatically walk into the fog wearing a long cardigan while music played. I was not on a wellness retreat. I was not “taking time to reconnect with myself,” unless you count reconnecting with the laundry pile I have named Brenda.

I have just been in the thick of mom life, trying to keep tiny humans alive, get social media accounts going, open Etsy shops, learn new platforms, make digital invitations, and occasionally drink coffee while it is still warm.

So yes, I vanished. But I come bearing updates, apologies, and possibly crumbs in my hair.

Some days the plan is coffee first, everything else second.

I owe you a tiny apology and maybe a snack

Let me start with the obvious: I’m sorry I’ve been gone for so long.

I kept meaning to post an update. Truly. I had good intentions. I would think, “I should write a quick blog post tonight,” and then bedtime would turn into a hostage negotiation involving water cups, stuffed animals, and one urgent philosophical question about why socks feel “too socky.”

By the time everyone was asleep, my brain had turned into mashed potatoes.

And not the good buttery kind. The sad cafeteria kind.

The funny thing about being a busy mom is that you can be moving all day and still feel like you got nothing done. I can unload the dishwasher, answer messages, fold half a basket of laundry, design three invitations, rescue my favorite lipstick from my toddler, and still look around at 5:00 p.m. like, “Who trashed this place?”

The answer, of course, is everyone. Including me. I’m not innocent. I have abandoned many half-finished beverages around this house like emotional support props.

Mom life has been aggressively momming

My days lately have had a very specific rhythm:

  • Wake up tired.

  • Make breakfast for people who requested food, then suddenly hate food.

  • Play dinosaurs

  • Get groceries

  • Child needs a snack.

  • Forget why I walked into a room.

  • Open my computer to work.

  • Get interrupted 47 times.

  • Child needs a different snack.

  • Open Canva.

  • Beg my child to take a nap.

  • Try to post on social media.

  • Realize I have no idea what I’m doing.

  • Decide I am brave.

  • Immediately question all choices.

There is a special kind of comedy in trying to build something online while parenting. One minute I’m choosing fonts for a cute birthday invitation, and the next minute I’m saying things like, “Please don’t lick the window,” with the seriousness of a courtroom attorney.

That has been the season I’m in.

Not bad. Not perfect. Just full.

Full of noise, snacks, ideas, messes, dreams, deadlines I made up for myself, and the constant feeling that I am both doing too much and not enough.

So if you have wondered where I went, that’s the answer. I got swallowed by regular life, then decided to add several new projects on top like a woman who cannot be trusted with a quiet afternoon.

Creative work looks a little different when kids are involved.

The social media circus is now in session

Part of the reason I’ve been missing is because I’ve been trying to get my other social medias up and running.

Please send help. Or caffeine. Or someone under the age of 25 who can explain why every app has its own rules.

I’ll be feeling confident for approximately eight seconds, then suddenly I’m staring at my phone wondering:

  • Should this be a reel?

  • Are tags still a thing?

  • Did I post it in the right size?

  • Why does this audio have 900 versions?

  • Am I supposed to be here? Am I too old?

  • Do people still say “link in bio,” or did we all collectively move on?

Trying to show up online sounds easy until you are actually doing it. Then it becomes a strange little talent show where you are the contestant, the camera crew, the editor, the caption writer, the lighting department, and the person in charge of pretending the house is clean in the background.

Spoiler: the house is not clean.

Still, I’m figuring it out. Slowly. Awkwardly. With many deleted drafts and a few accidental posts that made me gasp like I had launched a rocket.

But I’m proud of myself for trying. Messy progress is still progress, even if it happens in leggings with yesterday’s mascara.

The Etsy shop adventure has officially taken over my brain

Now for the fun part.

Behind the scenes, I’ve also been working on my Etsy shop. This is where I’ll be selling digital invitations that are editable in Canva, which means customers can personalize them without waiting on me to change every name, date, and party detail.

Birthday invitations, baby showers, bridal showers, holiday parties, cute little themed invites, that kind of fun stuff.

I love making invitations because they feel like the first little spark of a celebration. Before the cake, the balloons, the games, and the “where did we put the tape?” panic, there’s the invite.

It sets the mood.

It says, “Something fun is happening, and yes, snacks will probably be involved.”

Here is the official little shop spot I promised myself I would add like a responsible adult:

There it is. My Etsy shop, sitting proudly in the middle of this post like it pays rent. And hopefully one day it will.

And yes, I know its still a work in progress. But for now, we are calling it charming and moving forward.

This is the kind of joyful chaos behind the shop.

I’m building it one nap time at a time

I used to think I needed everything to be perfect before sharing it.

Perfect photos. Perfect shop. Perfect posting schedule. Perfect blog plan. Perfect confidence.

Then motherhood laughed so hard it spilled juice on the floor.

If I wait for perfect, I will never post again. So I’m choosing to show up in the middle of it. In the messy part. In the “I’m still learning” part. In the “this took me three days because someone needed help finding a shoe that was already on their foot” part.

And honestly, that feels more real anyway.

If you’re here reading this, thank you for sticking around. Thank you for your patience while I try to build several things at once and keep my family from eating cereal for dinner.

Although cereal dinner is valid. Let the record show.

What you can expect from me now

I’m not going to promise I’ll suddenly become the most consistent blogger on the internet. That feels legally risky.

But I do want to be here more.

I want to share updates, behind-the-scenes chaos, new invitation designs, mom-life stories, funny little lessons, and the honest process of building something creative from home.

You can expect:

  • More casual life updates.

  • Sneak peeks of new digital invitation designs.

  • Honest posts about building an Etsy shop while parenting.

  • Random humor, because if I don’t laugh, I’ll start stress-cleaning one drawer and call it a personality.

  • A little more grace, for you and for me.

I’m learning that this season does not have to look polished to be meaningful. It can be loud, sticky, creative, and still completely worth it.

The plan is simple, keep going and keep laughing.

Thanks for still being here

So that’s where I’ve been.

I didn’t quit blogging. I didn’t forget. I didn’t run away to a cabin in the woods, although I have thought about it during particularly dramatic laundry days.

I’ve been mothering, creating, learning, posting, deleting, redesigning, second-guessing, trying again, and slowly building my little Etsy shop dream one tiny step at a time.

Thanks for giving me room to be human.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go reheat my coffee for the third time and pretend I know what I’m doing. Which, honestly, might be the most mom-business-owner thing I’ve ever said.
